It was a long wait with the rain outs delaying this falls teams for fall tournaments. We were able to play 2 weekends ago at the Curve stadium which was pretty nice for these players but hearing the contact of wooden bats at this past weekend tournament at Pittsburgh was special. And we heard them a lot at Pullman park.
The 15u which was participants in the same tournament as the 16u team had a great weekend before losing in the semi finals. They had good pitching, solid defense, and really swung the bats well. Even in the loss in the semi finals they barreled the ball all game, unfortunately some right at players and just couldn’t find that timely hit but in all had a great tournament.
The 16u played just as well making it to the finals before dropping the championship 3-1 in their 3rd game of the day. Same story, solid pitching and solid defense, and some timely hitting sparked them into the championship. Joey DeRubeis and Dylan Barr made 2 outstanding “web jems” in the outfield while Rodney Shultz had some real “web jems” at shortstop and while pitching. Mike Buck was solid behind the plate in his first appearance with the Curve Jrs. Brendan Grazier had the biggest hit of the weekend, a 3 run homerun that was absolutely crushed over the right field fence.
Congratulations to both teams on a great weekend!!!
